MacBook Pro Benchmarks (June 2009)

I’ve updated the Mac Benchmark chart with Geekbench results for the new MacBook Pros announced at WWDC earlier this month. I’ve included the results for these new MacBook Pros below, along with results for the previous generation of MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

Results were collected from the Geekbench Result Browser for Macs with standard processors (i.e., no processor upgrades or overclocked processors). I’ve reported the average overall score for each model and processor combination. A score of 1000 is the score a Power Mac G5 @ 1.6GHz would receive, and higher scores are better.

Which processor will the 09 macbook pro come with, either the P7550(which appears to perform better) or the P8400??? Is it pot luck???

If it is pot luck I will purchase the P8700 instead.

    Thanx for any help!

I was just talking about that today. I went with the 2.53ghz. If you look at the benchmarks you are paying $600 for a 10 to 15 percent increase in overal performance in every day tasks with the 2.8ghz. Unless you are a gamer or doing any video editing the 2.53 is the best deal. If you are going to upgrade any of the 2.53 ones I'd go with the 500 gig hard drive.

What would be the best value for processing speed in Mac Book Pro's 15" 2009 models?

  • Joseph

How much ram was used in each test?

    Same w/ Mac Pro?

I would like to see macbook pros inline with mac pros.

Can you please check if the P7550 processor in the cheaper 13-inch MacBook Pro supports "hardware" virtualization (Intel VT-x)? There's no reliable information to be found on the net, Intel web site does not list this CPU at all...
